What does this look like?
Students are our starting point and an individual,
personal approach informs what learning takes place,
how this happens and why it is important.
We follow a practical curriculum model which uses
personal learning passports that cross reference and
interact with a variety of educational and therapeutic
approaches including PT, OT , SaLT and PBS. These plans
link directly back to students EHCPs, ensuring that their
own aspirations and goals sit at the centre of their
education.
Religious Education
RE in Pathway 3 is based on the Connecting with RE scheme.
Within this, we use sensory experiences, Bible Stories and
creative arts to develop our understanding of the world that
God has given us and to be able to understand and share
God’s message through our interactions with others. We
learn to listen, respond, reflect and share our experiences in
meaningful ways. We celebrate our faith through
assemblies, Gospel celebrations, Mass and enjoy the end of
week Prayer through Song.
In Pathway 3, we recognise and support the
development of our students unique identity as
individuals who can actively influence and shape their
world, enabling them to thrive. We create a journey of
growth, giving opportunity and challenge through a
holistic and integrated approach for students to pursue
and achieve their fullest potential, ambitions and
independence.
In Pathway 3, we learn and develop our skills through
fun, engagement, play and process based learning. We
hold high expectations, break barriers and push
boundaries through personalisation and creativity at
the heart of learning. We encourage our learners to work
together, encouraging autonomy and recognising the
value of meaningful, personal experiences.

Emotional development & wellbeing
Pathway 3 has a holistic curriculum which places students at
the heart and centre. We uphold a strong focus on wellbeing
and timetables are carefully constructed to ensure regular
sensory breaks, opportunities for active movement and a
range of therapeutic approaches. A range of strategies are
integrated to support and engage students, taking into
account personal learning styles, preferences, VI, HI, MSI.
Measuring impact
All students in Pathway 3 have Personal Learning Intentions in
the areas of Cognition, Communication, SEMH and Physical
and Sensory. Intentions link directly to students’ EHCP
outcomes and are formed through careful analysis of
individual strengths, needs and motivations alongside
therapy goals and collaborative working.
The assessment of lateral progress focusses attention on
qualitative aspects of a skill including independence, fluency,
maintenance and generalisation. Careful assessment across
disciplines feeds directly back into planning and informs
teaching and learning moving forwards.
