What does Apple Tree Avenue offer?
In Apple Tree Avenue, our play is purposeful. Our
learning encourages a world of curiosity and
enjoyment that makes learning irresistible.
In Apple Tree Avenue we discover how to best
motivate our learners and encourage them to
become more adventurous with activities, risk
taking and exploring the world we live in.

What does this look like?
Within Apple Tree Avenue we deliver these subject
areas in a variety of different ways to support both
the cognitive and sensory needs of our learners.
Our learning is split into smaller chunks, directed by
teacher-led input with time also allocated for childled play through our classroom and outdoor
provision. This helps our learners practise the skills
needed for attention building, communicating their
wants and needs as well as their social skills with
plenty of learning opportunities to work together.
Religious Education
Our learning in Apple Tree Avenue is underpinned
with our Catholic values upheld across the school.
Our focus is to develop our understanding of God’s
message through Bible stories and practical
experiences.
Community is very much at the heart of our learning
and we pride ourselves on our engagement in the
wider school community, through whole school and
centre wide events. We celebrate our faith through
assemblies, Gospel celebrations, Mass and enjoy the
end of week Prayer through Song.

Emotional development & wellbeing
Our learner’s wellbeing, emotional and physical
needs are supported with the design of our
curriculum, therapy inputs and individualised
support. The use of visuals, alongside the zones of
regulation, help to develop our learner’s emotional
literacy and begins to explore the various
emotions we may feel and the tools we can use to
help regulate and be ready to learn.
Measuring impact
In Apple Tree Avenue, we assess our learners with
their EHCP targets at the forefront of their learning
journey, intertwined with our carefully designed
curriculum frameworks.
We regularly review the learners’ targets and
continually adjust and adapt learning strategies
informed by this. Elements of the learners’
achievements and progress are captured in the
form of photographs and observations which feed
into the assessment against these frameworks,
through our Earwig system.
