Emirates
welcomes St Elizabeth’s
We were incredibly excited to recently receive an invitation from Emirates,
the world’s first Autism-Certified Airline, to attend the launch of their “Travel
Rehearsal” taking place at London Stansted Airport.
The Travel Rehearsal programme allows people with accessible travel
requirements to experience a guided simulation of the complete air travel
journey, familiarising them with airport procedures and onboard environments
ahead of time – helping reduce anxiety and build confidence before an actual
flight.
Students from our school and sixth form and their families experienced the
travel journey with Emirates, from check in to the departure gate. Supported by
airport and airline staff, the students and their families walked through checkin, security and the departure lounge.
As part of Emirates’ “Accessible Travel for All” approach, the Travel Rehearsal
programme aims to make air travel more predictable and comfortable for
individuals on the autism spectrum.
We were truly spoilt on the day with lots of goodies, refreshments and even a
meet and greet with the Captain! Thank you for having us.
